Buried Oil Tank Extraction
A buried fuel oil tank can be very costly environmental hazard if it has been leaking. If it leaks, the fuel gets absorbed into the ground and ultimately works it's way down to the water table. This particular tank was extracted and immediately inspected for signs of leakage. It was not leaking, so it will be taken to the scrap yard. If it had been leaking, all the surrounding contaminated soil would have to be dug out & trucked away to an environmental hazard waste site. Then all new clean fill (Sand) would be put back into the hole. All while under supervision of an EPA official. If you are planning to sell your home and you have a buried fuel oil tank, don't wait until the last minute. Have it resolved so it will not delay or kill your closing.
